Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Schooley Industries LLC ("we", "us"), which runs SigRep: the website, its API, the SigRep Android app and everything they provide (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, signing in or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use it.

1. Who can use SigRep

• You must be at least 18, or have the consent of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms for you.
• Accounts are by invitation. One account is for one person.

2. SigRep is not an emergency service

• In an emergency, call 911 (or your local emergency number) and follow the instructions of officials and first responders.
• The Service gathers and summarises information from other sources, partly automatically and with the help of AI. It can be late, incomplete, out of date or wrong, and it may miss things altogether. Risk scores, areas to avoid, directions, alerts, survival guides and every other output are general information only, not professional, medical, legal or safety advice, and not a guarantee that any place or route is safe.
• Never rely on SigRep alone for decisions about your or anyone else's safety. Alerts may not arrive, or may arrive late, because of your device, its settings, your connection or ours.

3. Your account

• Keep your password and API tokens secret and secure; you're responsible for everything done with your account and its tokens. Tell us at once at [email protected] if you think someone else has used them.
• Give a real email address and keep it current. Don't create accounts with false details or for anyone else.
• Invite only people you know personally. You're responsible for how you share your invite link.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to, and not to help or allow anyone else to:

• use the Service for anything unlawful, or to harass, threaten, stalk, defame, endanger or discriminate against anyone;
• submit false, misleading or malicious reports, feedback, requests, edits or alerts, or impersonate anyone;
• spam, abuse or sell invite links, or create accounts in bulk or by automated means;
• probe, scan or test the security of the Service, get around any limit, sign-in or access control, or reach any part of the Service, account or data you aren't given;
• interfere with, overload or disrupt the Service, including by sending more requests than normal personal use needs;
• share, sell, rent or transfer your account, password or API tokens.

5. Our intellectual property

• The Service, including its software, source code, Android app, design, text, guides as published here, data, compilations and selections of information, scores, assessments, summaries and the SigRep name and logo, is owned by Schooley Industries LLC or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, trade secret and other laws. Except where Section 6 says otherwise, all rights are reserved.
• We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial purposes, as these Terms allow. Nothing else is licensed to you.
• You may not, without our written permission:
• scrape, crawl, spider, harvest or bulk-download the Service or its data, whether by robot, script or by hand, beyond your own normal use through your own API token;
• copy, reproduce, republish, redistribute, sell, license, frame or mirror any part of the Service or its data, or make it available to anyone else;
• use the Service or its data to build, train, benchmark or improve a competing product or service, or any artificial intelligence or machine learning model;
• reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or otherwise try to derive the source code, models, prompts or methods of the Service or the app, except where the law expressly allows it despite this restriction;
• remove, hide or alter any copyright, trademark or other notice, or use our name or logo.

6. Other people's content

News reports, official alerts, maps (including © OpenStreetMap contributors), offline libraries and other material from third parties belong to their owners and are shown or linked under their own terms, for your personal information. Links to other sites aren't endorsements, and we aren't responsible for them.

7. What you give us

Feedback, suggestions, requests, edits and anything else you send through the Service remain yours, but you give us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, copy, change and build on them to run and improve SigRep, without paying you. Don't send anything you don't have the right to share.

8. Donations

Donations are voluntary gifts to help cover the cost of running SigRep. They don't buy any service, feature, priority or right, and they aren't refundable except where the payment provider's terms or the law require. Monthly donations continue until you cancel them, which you can do at any time.

9. Your information

We keep what's needed to run your account: your username, email address, the places you follow and your settings. If you turn on location alerts in the app, it sends your approximate position to check for nearby areas to avoid; we use it for that check and don't keep it. Payments are handled by Stripe, which doesn't share your card details with us. We don't sell your information.

10. Suspension and ending

We may suspend or close any account, or remove any content, at any time if we believe these Terms have been broken, to protect the Service or other people, or as the law requires. You can stop using the Service and ask us to close your account at any time. Sections 2, 5, 7 and 11 to 13 continue after your account ends.

11. No warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, TIMELINESS, AVAILABILITY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS. The Service is under active development and may change, break or stop at any time.

12. Limits on our liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, Schooley Industries LLC, ITS OWNERS, MEMBERS, VOLUNTEERS AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY INJURY, LOSS OF LIFE, PROPERTY DAMAGE, LOST DATA OR LOST PROFITS, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR ANY RELIANCE ON IT, EVEN IF TOLD THEY WERE POSSIBLE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AND US$50. Some places don't allow some of these limits; there, they apply as far as the law allows.

13. Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold harmless Schooley Industries LLC and its owners, members and volunteers from any claim, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

14. The law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from them or the Service will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Indiana, and you and we agree to those courts' jurisdiction. If any part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a part isn't giving it up. These Terms are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms. Each version has its effective date above. When they change, we'll ask you to agree to the new version before you carry on using the Service; if you don't agree, stop using it.
